The Granville Hotel was originally built around 1800 and so does have some physical limitations to accessibility. However, as we have refurbished the hotel we have been able to improve the facilities and intend to continue making improvements to access as and when building work takes place.
Our most important asset is our long-standing team who have many years of experience. Please explain any individual needs to our reception or reservations team, who will be able to advise on the most suitable options. We are happy to take assistance dogs.
It is possible to stop outside the hotel on double yellow lines to unload, please make yourselves known to reception so that we may help bring in your bags should this be required. There is a ramp from the street to the front door where you may gain access by pressing the bell. This is approx 1.10m from floor level. There is parking available for blue badge holders in nearby Russell Square and Cannon Place.
The reception area within the hotel is on the ground floor with no obstructions approaching the desk. The bar and restaurant are both on the lower ground floor which due to our listing status is unable to be accessed via our lift. There are two flights of internal stairs or alternatively shallow steps on the exterior. We have a wide variety of chairs and tables of different types and back supports. Unfortunately our cloak rooms are not adapted for wheelchair use. We can provide large print menus on request and offer room service free of charge to all guests who may have problems accessing the restaurant. Allergies and specific food tolerances can be catered for, although we cannot guarantee against trace elements.
Access From Public Areas To The Bedrooms
The hotel is built over four storeys with three buildings connected internally, the bedrooms are on different floors to the public areas; however, 2 of them are on the same level as the reception. There is a staircase between the public areas and the majority of bedrooms, all of which have railings. Because of the layout of the hotel there may be several very short flights of stairs to negotiate between the bedrooms, again please do discuss this at the time of booking.
Most of the bedrooms are not suitable for wheelchair users, but are suitable for people with some reduced mobility, perhaps with walking sticks or crutches. Please ask which rooms would be most suitable on booking. We will happily rearrange or change bedroom furniture where possible to meet specific requirements. Please speak to a member of our reservations team for full details and locations of these rooms. We have one ground floor bedroom that is fully wheelchair accessible but please note that the bathroom is not a wet room so the chair cannot be taken into the shower itself.
